Important: Lawson State Community College does NOT participate in the federal student loan program. Students seeking loans should explore private loan options. Grants, scholarships, and work-study are available.

Payment Due Date
Payment is due before the first day of class. A $25 late registration fee and $25 late payment fee apply for payments made after the deadline.
Payment Plan
A 4-installment monthly payment plan is available through TouchNet. Contact Financial Aid for enrollment details.
Funding Options
TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID
Pell Grant
Need-BasedFederal need-based grant that does not require repayment. Complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility. The Pell Grant is one of the primary sources of aid for Lawson State students.
Grants
No RepaymentNeed-based funding awarded through the FAFSA. Grants do not need to be repaid. FAFSA must be submitted each academic year. Lawson State awards approximately $1.5M in scholarship and grant funds annually.
Scholarships
Merit & NeedMerit and need-based scholarships available through the Lawson State Foundation and external partners including Athens State, Jacksonville State, Troy, UAB, and The University of Alabama.
Work-Study
EmploymentPart-time on-campus employment for eligible students to help cover educational costs. Earn while you learn — hours are flexible around your class schedule.

VeteransLawson State provides specialized support for veterans to navigate VA benefits. Our Veterans Services office helps decode your VA education entitlements and connect you with campus resources.
Start with the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines your eligibility for all federal and state grants. It's free and takes about 30 minutes. Submit it as early as possible — awards are limited.

AUTHORIZE YOUR PELL FOR BOOKS
Apply your Pell Grant toward books, equipment, and fees in three steps through MyLawson.
Log In to MyLawson
From the site’s Current Students menu, select MyLawson and sign in with your Lawson State username and password.
Open Financial Aid Status
On the MyLawson portal, find the Financial Aid Self-Service card and click "Financial Aid Status."
Authorize Your Aid
Click Resources, then "Authorize Your Aid" and "Terms and Conditions." Confirm everything on the page — once done, your Pell can be applied to books, equipment, and fees.
Withdrawal Policy
REFUND SCHEDULE
If you withdraw from a course, the amount refunded depends on when you withdraw.

| Withdrawal during 3rd week | 25% |
| Withdrawal after 3rd week | 0% |
An administrative fee — up to 5% of tuition and institutional charges, or $100, whichever is smaller — applies to withdrawals between the first day of class and the end of the third week.
